Zebra Label Printers: Blank, Skipped or Shifted Labels

Shifted or skipping labels after a media change almost always needs a media calibration (hold FEED, or the Calibrate menu). Confirm label size in the printer driver matches the roll. Shipping label printers are at Dock 1, Dock 2 and Receiving.

Quick fix

  1. Open the printer, check the roll is seated and the guides touch the liner.
  2. Run media calibration: on ZT400-series, Menu > Print Quality > Calibrate, or hold FEED for 2 seconds on desktop models.
  3. Print a test label from the shipping station.

If still shifted

  • Check the label size in the driver (4x6 for carrier labels, 2x1 for part labels).
  • New label stock from a different supplier can need a different sensor setting (gap vs. black mark).

IT keeps a spare ZD621 for Dock 2 if a printer has to come out of service.
